                                                                       Welcome to the Nuvama India Conference  2023 themed
                                                                       India: The 5D Advantage.
                                                                       This  conference  is  special;  it  is  not  only  our  first  physical  annual
                                                                       conference after two virtual editions, but also the first-ever in our new
                                                                       avatar: Nuvama Institutional Equities.
                                                                       Our brand and image makeover is deep-rooted. It is an extension of
                                                                       our new corporate ethos—with ‘the customer is first’ as the bedrock
                                                                       of  our  efforts.  We  have  also  used  this  momentous  opportunity  to
                                                                       effect numerous novel changes — hard and soft – with the sole aim of
                                                                       elevating customer experience.
                                                                       Nuvama’s new and refreshing corporate identity and ethos shall be
                                                                       visible at our India: The 5D Advantage investor conference. That said,
                                                                       we invite your attention to our thoughts penned down in this edition
                                                                       of our coffee table book.

                                                                       It is our firm belief the more investors discover the India story, the more
                                                                       there is to the story. In other words, India is a constantly unfolding plot
                                                                       that cannot be captured holistically, but along the way. And at this
                                                                       juncture, from today’s vantage point, we see India as an interplay of
                                                                       five politico-economic and socio-economic forces, which we term as
                                                                       the 5D Advantage: De-globalisation, Deregulation, Debt, Demography
                                                                       and Democracy.
                                                                       In this tale, preparation meets providence. It takes two wings to fly.
                                                                       Over the last ten years, India has been through a cleansing of sorts, a
                                                                       catharsis or a purgatory, if you will, which the great Italian poet Dante,
                                                                       in The Divine Comedy, saw as a preparation for paradise. The reforms
                                                                       undertaken by India in the last ten years were necessary, tough and
                                                                       painful,  and  are  tantamount  to  a  second  unshackling  of  India  after
                                                                       the  1990s’  liberalisation.  The  country  once  associated  with  ‘policy
                                                                       stasis’ is now celebrated for ‘policy panacea’. Rarely do democracies
                                                                       showcase such a resolve. Meanwhile, India’s financial sector, purged
                                                                       of bad loans, is finding renewed vigour in its limbs.
