A Capital shift
India boasts one of the oldest stock markets in the world, but historically private capital has been scarce, and India and
its businesses have operated within that mindset. A lot has changed since the opening up to the foreign investor, the
formalisation and institutionalisation of the markets, so much so that the country has been an important destination
of the Foreign Institutional Investor (FII) for a while. They have also been a dominant investor in the markets, and a
risk-taking, investments and experimentation. The capital markets’ horizons have indeed broadened. New-age capital
