The global chemicals market was estimated to be about USD4tn in 2019. Commodity chemicals
make up ~80% of the global chemicals industry, with the balance 20% being specialty chemicals.

specialised usage and hence are needed in low quantities (not bulk), but have a higher value, and

the manufacturing of chemicals from the EU and North America, to Asia, particularly in the specialty
chemicals space. And in emerging markets such as India and China, the specialty chemicals industry
is estimated to grow faster on the back of strong growth in end-user industries.
